The small community of Pleasant Ridge is rich with historic traditional architecture. This project consisted of a major renovation and addition to an existing craftsman style home on a prominent street.

The renovation of this early 20th century Craftsman Style home aimed to preserve the historical charm while enhancing functionality and modern comforts. The goal was to maintain the integrity of the original design while updating key areas to meet contemporary living standards The original layout was very compartmentalized with small room sizes. During the design process, the layout was modernized to create an open plan complete with a gourmet kitchen, large family room, and dining room. A new master bedroom suite was added at the rear of the home on the first floor. The second floor contains bedroom suites for the owner's children, complete with an open "hang out" loft space. The interior design is timeless and sophisticated while expressing the family's personality at the same time. The exterior was also fully renovated. The original exposed framing details and trim were repaired or restored to match the original design characteristics. The existing enclosed front porch created a barricade to the street. This was removed and replaced with an inviting open porch that allows for relaxation and engagement with pedestrian friendly front yard. The result blends historical roots with modern functionality to create a comfortable space that supports the family’s contemporary lifestyle and needs.
