Krieger Klatt Architects was honored to collaborate with the Boji Group on the transformative Royal Oak City Center project, a multi-year endeavor that redefined the heart of this vibrant community. This ambitious project involved the demolition of an aging city parking lot, City Hall, the police station, and the historic "Henry Ford Building" medical office—making way for a dynamic new city center that seamlessly integrates modern infrastructure with community-focused spaces.
At the core of this project was the creation of a brand-new City Hall, a state-of-the-art police station, and a striking new parking deck. But perhaps the most exciting and impactful feature is the development of a beautiful new Central Park. This expansive, thoughtfully designed park has quickly become the city’s gathering place, hosting everything from lively concerts to peaceful afternoons spent cooling off at the splashpad. Throughout the process, KKA worked closely with the community and city staff to ensure that every element of the design reflected the values and needs of Royal Oak residents. As the prime architect and architect of record for the City Hall and the Henry Ford Building's core and shell, KKA played a crucial role in bringing the city’s vision to life. The result is a stunning, cohesive development that not only elevates the city’s infrastructure but also creates a vibrant public space where people can connect, relax, and enjoy the very best of what Royal Oak has to offer. This project is a shining example of how thoughtful design can transform a community, blending functional spaces with areas of beauty and recreation, and providing a lasting legacy for generations to come.
